< NANOEGG>First and foremost, we are a dermatological research Institute. Our egg of ideas for skin science comes from "thinking out of the box".This is possible because our approach to skin is not only from a medical perspective but also with chemistry and physics in mind. Our researchers are scientists looking at biology with multiple viewpoints.< OUR RESEARCH>We investigate how skin reacts and changes on a deeper level. The fruit of this research is our drug delivery technology that works locally, with little or no side effects. With further research this could be used to deliver needleless vaccines, especially to areas without doctors or nurses. While researching drug delivery, we also discovered the mechanism of eczema symptoms. We have several employees suffering from atopic dermatitis, as well as employees with families of the same condition. We understand how skin disease affects people's quality of life, and have been exploring ways to mitigate it.With our current technology and further exploration, we hope to contribute to society and deliver better quality of life to people. < OUR BUSINESS>We started out as a dermatological research institute more than a decade ago. We have now expanded our functions to include pharmaceutical and retail sales, as well as expanding overseas. We use our research and patents in skincare products we produce, because we hope for people to retain their beauty.< OUR FOUNDER AND CEO>"My daughter struggled with eczema since she was a baby and have gone through years of medical treatments. Even though it was not life threatening, she was distressed with the way her skin felt and looked, and her condition affected the family's mental, financial and physical wellbeing.I realized many other families are suffering the same, and decided to go into dermatological research to bring better quality of life to people. The skin is the largest organ in the body, yet is often overlooked compared to internal organs. Eczema was a starting point, and now we are also working towards drug delivery systems without needles for easier and less painful vaccines and drugs."Dr. Yamaguchi's research was selected for Japan Science and Technology Agency's pre-venture (pre-startup) business in 2003, which lead to the founding of Nanoegg Research Laboratories, Inc. 3 years later.Dr. Yamaguchi is currently a Visiting Professor at St. Marianna University School of Medicine's Intractable Disease Research Center, and has previously held positions at Yokohama National University Graduate School of Environment and Information Science's Environment and System Sciences and also at Dow Corning Co.Dr. Yamaguchi received her Ph.D from Universitat Bayreuth, Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Earth Sciences, in Germany.
